To dance, we must go deep. The dance is the vision for the next chapter of RQ, and the deep is the foundation on which it rests.
Any good vision rests on a solid foundation. Before we get to the "what" of RQ, we must first look at the "why." It is deep, but not very complex. RQ exists to further God's goal for the universe, for our world, for our lives, and for those around us. What is that goal? Glory—the praise of God through the revelation of God. RQ exists for glory.
The Lord is on an unrelenting quest to be known. God passionately wants to be known, loved, enjoyed, and praised in his perfection. He made himself known through creation, but he didn't stop there. God will not cease his self-revelation until his character is fully manifested in all of its beauty and splendor, and the universe and everything in it sings, "Glory to God!" In the words of the prophet Habakkuk, God promises that "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (2:14).
Defining the glory of God is no easier than determining the identity of a God who calls himself, "I am who I am." A phrase off the streets of my city captures the glory of God as well as anything: "It is what it is." The summation of God's character in its fullest expression is the glory of God.
