Treatment for Infidelity Fallout




As we saw from our statistical survey in the first chapter, most church leaders don't succumb to sexual temptation.

But many do. You may have. Counselees who come for help often have.

Is it the end of the world?

No. It may be the end of a part of life. But not of life itself. You can recover. You can help others recover.

Christianity is a religion characterized by words like mercy, forgiveness, and hope. If the statistics we looked at earlier about the high percentages of people who encounter sexual difficulties are any indicator, many people need help in claiming mercy, seeking forgiveness, and rekindling hope.

Louis McBurney tells how this can be accomplished. Chapter 13, "Treatment for Infidelity Fallout," details the steps that must be taken—and the ones that must not be taken.

Not long ago a young couple was in my office working through a serious marital crisis: infidelity. A few months earlier she had discovered his involvement with another woman. She confronted him, and he confessed. They wanted to quickly move away from the pain, so he asked her forgiveness and pledged to never see the other woman again.
